FAQ
General
What is Swyvl?
Swyvl is spatial data delivery software for surveyors and drone operators. You upload spatial files — point clouds, orthomosaics, 3D models, drone video — organise them by site and capture session, and share them with clients via branded browser links. Clients view and download files without creating an account.
Who is Swyvl for?
Swyvl is designed for:
- Land surveyors delivering point clouds, CAD, and reports to clients
- Drone operators sharing orthomosaics, 3D models, and video
- Photogrammetry teams delivering textured meshes and Gaussian splats
- Asset owners receiving and managing spatial deliveries from multiple contractors
What file formats does Swyvl support?
40+ formats including point clouds (LAS, LAZ, E57, PLY), 3D models (OBJ, GLB, GLTF, FBX), BIM (IFC), CAD (DXF), geospatial (KMZ, KML, GeoTIFF, GeoJSON, SHP, GPX, CZML, CSV), 360° panoramas (equirectangular JPG/MP4), images (JPG, PNG, WebP), video (MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM), PDF, Gaussian splats (SPLAT, KSPLAT, SPZ, SPLZ), GPS sidecars (SRT, GPX), and 3D Tiles (ZIP). Do my clients need a Swyvl account?
No. Share links are public — your client opens the URL in any browser with no login, no app, and no plugins required. For controlled access, you can use password-protected or invite-only share links.
Uploading
What is the maximum file size?
There is no maximum file size. Files under 100 MB use a single upload. Files over 100 MB use multipart upload automatically.
How do I upload a 3D Tiles dataset?
Package your 3D Tiles directory as a .zip file with a top-level JSON at the root or one folder deep. Upload the ZIP file like any other file. Swyvl extracts and processes it automatically. All 3D Tiles 1.0 formats are supported (b3dm, i3dm, pnts, cmpt, vctr).
How do I upload DJI drone video with GPS?
Upload the .mp4 video and .srt subtitle file together in the same batch (drag and drop both at once). Swyvl automatically detects the SRT as a GPS sidecar, pairs it with the video by filename, and opens the multi-panel viewer showing the video alongside a live GPS flight map. Full guide →
Can I pair a GPX track with photos or video?
Yes. Upload the .gpx file alongside your photos or video in the same batch. Swyvl detects the GPX as a sidecar and extracts the GPS track. Full guide →
Can I upload multiple files at once?
Yes. Drag multiple files onto the upload area or use the file picker to select multiple files. They upload in parallel.
My file has been processing for over 15 minutes. What do I do?
Try re-uploading the file. If it gets stuck again, raise a support request from Settings → Support.
Share links
How do I stop a client accessing a share link?
Go to the Sharing tab, find the link, and click Unpublish. Access is revoked immediately.
Can clients approve or give feedback on a delivery?
Yes. At the bottom of every share link, clients see an Approve button and a Request changes button. Approvals create a timestamped record visible in the Activity tab. Change requests include a message from the client. You receive an email notification for both.
Can I password-protect a share link?
Yes. When creating a share link, choose Password protected as the privacy setting and enter a password. Clients must enter the password to access the link.
Can I restrict a share link to specific people?
Yes. Choose Invite only when creating a share link and enter email addresses. Each invitee receives a unique magic link. Only people with a valid invite can access the link.
Why doesn’t my logo appear on share links?
Check the logo is saved in Settings → Organisation. Do a hard refresh (Cmd+Shift+R) on the share link. If still missing after 5 minutes, raise a support request.
Can I include files from future uploads in a share link?
Yes. When creating a share link, enable “Include future files”. New uploads appear automatically.
Can clients download all files at once?
Yes. Share links with download access enabled show a Download all button that packages all files into a ZIP archive.
Data & storage
Where is my data stored?
In the region you selected during signup: Australia (Sydney), US East (Virginia), US West (Oregon), UK (London), EU (Frankfurt), Canada (Toronto), Japan (Tokyo), or Singapore. See data regions →
Can I change my data region?
No. The region is set at organisation creation and cannot be changed. Contact support if you need to discuss options.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. Your file data is never used for AI training. The AI features in Swyvl (file classification, support chat) use general-purpose models that are not trained on your data.
Is Swyvl GDPR compliant?
EU-region organisations store all file data in Frankfurt, Germany. A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available on request — email privacy@swyvl.io.
Billing
What plans are available?
Swyvl offers four plans: Free ($0), Solo ($49/mo), Team ($199/mo), and Enterprise (custom). All plans include all file formats and viewers. See plans →
What plan am I on?
Go to Settings → Plan & usage.
What happens if I exceed my storage limit?
On Solo and Team plans with overage enabled, storage above your plan limit is billed at $0.05/GB/month. With overage disabled, uploads are blocked. The Free plan has a hard cap. Usage is visible in Settings → Plan & usage.
How do I cancel?
Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from Settings → Plan & usage at any time. If you cancel a paid plan, you move to Free — your data stays accessible, but Free plan limits apply.

How do I sign in?
Swyvl uses passwordless sign-in. Enter your email at hub.swyvl.io and we’ll send you a magic link — click it to sign in. Or use Continue with Google. You can also enable two-factor authentication at Settings → Account → Security.
How do I add a team member?
Go to Settings → Organisation → Team and click Invite member. Enter their email address and choose a role (Owner or Editor). They’ll receive an invite link by email. Seats are limited by your plan — see Plans & pricing →.
What’s the difference between an Owner and an Editor?
